THE 10 SIMPLE RULES OF HOW TO PREPARE HOME-COOKED MEALS

♥ Always wash your hands before and after handling raw meat or eggs. Use separate cutting boards for meat.

♥ Chop the food before simmering or cooking.

♥ Be careful when chopping food in a blender. Let it cool down slightly before blending.

♥ Add water, breast milk or breast milk substitute to the puree to make it softer.

♥ If the puree is too liquid, mix it with any cereal or porridge.

♥ Keep cooked food in the refrigerator for a maximum of three days, and in the freezer for up to three months.

♥ Baby food should not be stored at room temperature for more than one hour.

♥ Cook more food than you need to make a stock; divide the puree into small portions and freeze. This saves lots of time.

♥ When heating food in a microwave oven, stir it well to achieve a uniform temperature. Serve the food warm.

♥ Do not add any salt or sugar to food during your baby’s first year.
