DRINK YOUR MILK, KIDS
Most of us are reasonably clear on how organic fruit is produced. But what about organic milk? This is still a mystery to many of us. What lies at its base, and how do ‘organic’ cows live?
Of course, the milk is not take from some sort of aliens, but from absolutely normal cows. What makes them special are the conditions in which they are kept. An “organic” cow is given clean pastures, and the soil on which they graze is not fertilized by any chemical substances. Additionally, they live in special, enlarged stalls, and are not subjected to any injections to stimulate growth. The feed for these cows is also comprised of strictly clean components while “organic” calves are only given natural milk for their first three months.
Organic milk is stored without the use of artificial preservatives, and as a method of preserving useful substances, sterilization is used. And so, after going through all these stages, the milk – which is packaged in eco-friendly containers – ends up on the shelves, preserving all of its natural benefits.
