Pesticides have long been known to be harmful to humans, yet they are still used in the mass-production of fruit and vegetables. It seems that they are applied regularly on all farms that have not converted to organic production. But in addition, we know that some fruit and vegetables are exposed to record amounts of chemicals.
The Ad Hoc Working Group on the Environment conducted a study and compiled a list of fruits that are most often subject to pesticide treatment. The study includes apples, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, grapes, and blueberries. The specialists also identified the following vegetables: potatoes, celery, peppers, spinach, lettuce, and cucumbers.
The results of the study show that, concerning one’s health, a person would be advised to acquire these types of produce only if they are grown organically.
